Dragon Age: Inquisition - Walkthrough: Storyline - Defenders of Justice (Path of the Templars)

This is the first story-driven quest-fork, by choosing which, you forever deprive yourself of the opportunity to enter into an alliance with magicians.

To initiate this quest on the military operations map, your Inquisition's influence must be at least 15. The recommended level to complete is 4 to 7.

Cullen's informant among the Templars reports that the Seeker Lord has taken the entire Order to the long-empty citadel of Terinfal. Your advisors will propose a plan to get Lord Lucius' attention and make him look to the Inquisition as an organization worthy of cooperation.

When you have enough influence for this mission (or you get bored of wandering around the maps, completing non-story quests), confirm the operation on your table and this will automatically send you to Terinfal Fortress.

Warning: you cannot go back or abort this mission until you complete it completely. (This also applies to subsequent story quests in the game.) Therefore, equip yourself to the full before activating the quest.

Upon arrival in Terinfall, you will be greeted by Lord Esmeral Abernache, the representative of the aristocrats gathered to support you. Talk to him and go to the gate, where Templar Knight Barris awaits you. This is the same Templar who informed Cullen of the state of affairs, and he has something to tell you about the more than strange behavior of the Lord Seeker.

After talking with Barris, he will lead you to meet with Lord Lucius, but first he will offer you a little test ritual. The banners of the people, the Order and Andraste are hung on the wall of the castle, and you will be asked to raise them in the order in which you honor them (that is, the most important banner for you you raise above all and further in order). You can refuse this ritual, citing the fact that things are not waiting. Raising different banners will earn the corresponding respect of different associates (for example, Sera will approve if you raise the banner of the people above the rest), after which you will be asked to explain your choice. Explain (or not) and follow through the door where Barris will stop.

In the next scene, you will meet with the captain of the Order, who was sent to you by Lord Seeker, and get some idea of what exactly is wrong with the Templars. Also in this conversation the name of a certain “Elder” will be heard for the first time.

After the battle, go in search of the Seeker Lord to find out in detail what the hell is going on in the fortress. Dumbfounded by everything that happened, Barris will go with you. He will not join the group, but will stay nearby and fight by your side, which is good support - you will have to fight your way through numerous groups of various red templars. Also, along the way, you will hear a suspicious voice that you will be able to hear, but not your companions.

Exit to the courtyard and continue to fight your way through the fel-stricken templars. If you have a robber in your group, then you can open the door to the Lord Seeker's office, where you will find a lot of interesting things, both in terms of information on what is happening and in terms of loot, among which there will be an Amulet of Power for Cassandra (Amulets of Power give your characters one skill point when you put them on - after which they disappear).

Continue up the stairs and you will finally find Lord Lucius. Who will not talk to you, but will do something somewhat unexpected, as a result of which you will find yourself completely alone in some incomprehensible and unpleasant place. Well, nothing can be done, go and look for a way out.

Soon enough you will come across an interesting company, and in the ensuing conversation you will finally begin to understand what exactly happened to the Lord Seeker. Go further, along the way, observing the possible paths of development of the Inquisition, to which the owner of this area of the Shadow gravitates, as well as his predictions about your personal future.

After a while, you will come across a hall with columns that spew out flames with strong enough damage - you may die if you do not escape from under it in time. The columns rotate from time to time, directing the stream of flame in the other direction, so this gives you a chance to slip by without getting hurt. However, after you have passed several columns, you will stop in front of a place that will be impossible for you to pass through. Go to the door nearby, look around the room and head back to the exit.

In the following video, you will be introduced to an unexpected ally (if you read the book Asunder / The Split in the Universe YES, then you will immediately understand who he is, if not - it does not matter, you will find out with time), and after the conversation he will show you what to do with a previously impenetrable flame. Go back to the hall with columns, but before you finally exit this segment of the Shadow (this happens when you go into the passage that opened after extinguishing the flame), go into the room opposite the one where you met Cole. There you will find "Inspiration", by clicking on which, you can permanently increase your characteristics (if you played the two previous parts of YES, you already know - there is always something in the Shadow that permanently increases some characteristics).

Go to the next part of the Shadow and examine the prison cells (along the way, looking at the next plans of the demon Envy on your account) until you find a cell where Cole is waiting for you. Cole will make a speech about dispelling the darkness and disappear, and a Veil Fire torch will be lit on the wall next to him. Click on it, take the torch and go to light the braziers in the chambers - in total you need to light four.

In addition to lighting the brazier, which you need to do in order to find yourself in the next segment of the Shadow, you can find here another "Inspiration" for your characteristics. With a torch in hand, go back to the very first room where "Cassandra" is. In the cell to her left (if you face her) you will find the key to the prison cell. The prison cell that he opens is behind the wall, which will open to you after you light the last, fourth brazier. There you will find the second Inspiration.

Go up the stairs and you will find yourself in the final segment of the Shadow. It is somewhat more intricate than the previous ones - traps that inflict damage will swell under your feet all the time - so be careful and jump from them in time, and besides that, here you will also encounter enemies (albeit weak ones). Walk up, turn the lever to open the gate, and continue on your way. If you look around carefully, you will realize that this is a reflection of the inner courtyard of the fortress where you met Lord Seeker. You need to get exactly to the point where he carried you into the Shadow in the material world. Continue up the stairs, fighting off enemies (or simply dodging them). If you linger a little and look around in the tavern through which you need to go on your main path, then on the top floor you will find the third Inspiration.

When you ascend to the place where you meet the Lord Seeker, you will find the demon of Envy there and you can finally return to the material world. The frightened demon will gallop away from you under the protection of a magical veil, and Ser Barris, after a little thought, will offer you a plan on how to dispel it. To fulfill his plan, you need to find the remaining three Templar veteran lieutenants and supplies of undefiled lyrium in the fortress. Templars with Barris, meanwhile, will defend against demons in the main hall.
(There is a chest in the main hall, by clicking on which you can replenish your potions. You can use it only once. But you do not need to hold it for the final boss - before the last battle in this area you will find another burial with potions.)

This is a quest for a while - the powers of the templars will gradually dry up (you will have a special strip in the upper right corner so that you know how they are doing). If you go back and help them, it will fill the strip, but it will empty a little faster. I recommend not to hesitate until the strip is completely empty - your return to the hall will not fill it, you will also need to defeat all the opponents there. The bar replenishes slightly each time you track down a Veteran Templar.

If you go first to the officers' quarters, then in the sanctuary room you will find a note pinned to the statue, and Cole who appears next to you will inform you that the “Elder” for some reason seriously wants to remove the Empress Orlais Selena. The room next to the shrine contains deposits of red lyrium, and if you climb the stairs, you will find supplies of undefiled lyrium for Barris. One of the veterans you need is located on the same territory - go through the room and climb up the wooden stairs to go to the fortress wall.

Return to the main hall, go to the rooms of the upper barracks, fight off the red templars in the courtyard, go through it and through a couple of rooms to the quest mark on the fortress wall - and you will find one of the veterans fighting off a group of opponents. The second veteran is not very far from the first - you need to climb the stone stairs up on the opposite side of the courtyard to reach it.

After you find all three veterans and lyrium, head back to Barris and he will begin a ritual to break through the magic barrier. In the meantime, you will have to fight off several waves of red templars who will attack you in the hope of interfering with the ritual. They will keep spawning until your Templar allies completely destroy the magic barrier.

After the barrier disappears, head up the stairs to fight your first boss in the game, the Demon of Envy. Take your time - when you climb the stairs, look around the upper landing before leaving the hall - you will find a chest to replenish potions.

The Demon of Envy will periodically disappear after you take away a certain percentage of his health, at the same time summoning a group of red templars to help, and then reappearing in different forms.

When you deal with him, talk to the templars that have appeared in the courtyard. You will have a choice - make them part of the Inquisition under your control, or leave the Order as it is and make it your full ally. As you can guess, the first option will appeal to those of your comrades-in-arms who do not like templars (Solas and Sera), and the second will be approved by Cassandra, Vivienne, Iron Bull and Blackwall.

After this conversation, you will automatically be transported back to the Vault, where your advisors will discuss what happened. During the conversation, Cole will appear in the room - and you will finally get the opportunity to get him into full-fledged companions. (Which Cassandra will slightly condemn.)
When you finish discussing the state of affairs with your advisors, you will complete this story quest and receive the next one - Will Burn in Your Hearts.

Once you start the prologue for Dragon Age Inquisition, you will be surprised at its linearity. If you want to do something differently, as indicated in this walkthrough, you will be surprised to find that you cannot change anything. Getting lost here is completely unrealistic. First, you have to follow Cassandra. During your journey, pay attention to every clue and gradually kill enemies. You won't have any problems with basic training. After a while you will meet the elf Solas and the dwarf Varric - it is with them that you can continue your journey. They will be the first companions in Dragon Age Inquisition. As soon as you get your companions, you begin to learn the tactical pause. During the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition, you will often use this mode, so be sure to complete all the tutorials.

After some time, you will find yourself in a very interesting place - a gap in reality, from where demons often penetrate. If you decide that you need to close this gap, you will have to kill all the enemies. When the demons are defeated, you need to use the gap with the right mouse button. After a few seconds, the gap closes, but at this time it is impossible for you to be hit. Keep in mind that you will close such portals quite often. After the portal closes, you can go back to the fortress: though before that you will be offered a choice. You can either take a short path, or choose a long one and save your allies in the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition. Regardless of which path you choose, you will have to get to the place of the Old Ruins. When you make your way into the main hall, where the gap itself is located, you will engage in battle with the first main enemy in your passage of Dragon Age Inquisition - the demon of pride. There are many more such bosses.

I don't think there can be any difficulty with the passage of this section of the game: during the battle you will not fight yourself, but also with support in the form of companions from the Inquisition. When you play the first phase of this quest in Dragon Age Inquisition, you will not be able to damage the boss. Therefore, you will have to make the boss susceptible to damage by constantly using the gap. Pass the threat to your allies, and your main character will use the gap at this time. During the casting, you will constantly remove a certain percentage of the boss's health. When the gap explodes, the demon drops to his knees. It is at this time that you can carry maximum damage to the enemy. When the demon rises, there is no point in hitting him. Use the rift again to remove the demon's protection. Throughout the battle, other demons will appear, which you can easily kill. Usually, these enemies are killed first, and then they go to beat the demon of pride.

The danger has not passed

When you go through the previous parts, you will be given the first task. You should first have a good rest, and then go to explore the territory, go to the church, which is marked on your map. At the Command Table, you can finish the game's prologue and begin the main playthrough of Dragon Age Inquisition.

Now is the time to explore the entire location. During this time, it is best to learn how to forge weapons and armor well. It will also be nice if you can remember where the main characters are. When all this bored you, you can go back to the church. Take the first task and head to a new location - Inner Earth, in which you will spend a lot of time during the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition. She is in the same kingdom, so you can just go to the table and move using a quick transition.

Once you get to the Hinterlands, you will see that there are a huge number of tasks. You will have to spend about 12 hours to complete the entire location. I advise you to take all the quests at once so that the journal is always full. While exploring this location, you will constantly come across such and such tasks. If you systematically walk throughout the territory, you will not only get the best equipment, but also complete all tasks, earning the necessary experience to complete Dragon Age Inquisition.

Now we will analyze the implementation of the main quest - The Path of the Inquisitor. Mark it in your journal so that you constantly see the pointers that point to it. If you move along the path that is marked on the map, you will definitely stumble upon soldiers of the Inquisition, who are attacked by magicians and templars. Join the battle immediately to help your allies. After that, you can get to the main camp of the Inquisition in this area. Here you have to talk to your mother, who will send you to travel to new lands.

I advise you to complete the maximum number of quests in the Innerlands. This will give you the best weapons and equipment, help you advance through the levels, developing your characters. If you choose to continue the storyline of this Dragon Age Inquisition walkthrough, use the Command Table to head to the new city. This is a small trading town, where merchants and some characters are stationed for passing.

First, take a look around, study the goods from the merchants, as you can always find something interesting to buy. Buy up everything that can be useful to any of your allies. Good equipment from your allies is the key to victory over any enemy. When you have studied all the locations, you can continue the quest. First you must follow the mark on the map. There is practically nothing to do here, just watch the video, chat with representatives of the Khamovniki, and get out of the city. Before leaving the location, a woman will disturb you. She will say that she represents the chapter of the mages, which brings a new feature to the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition.

Well, it's time to choose between templars and sorcerers. Choose carefully because once you have made a choice, you cannot change anything. I advise you to build on the main class of your character. Agree, it is not very logical if the mage character decides to join the templars. It's also a little strange if a warrior agrees to help magicians. But, nevertheless, one should not be attached to these conventions in the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition very tightly. If you are leaning towards another faction, it is better to join it than to constantly make decisions you don't like. In order to join the Templars, you need to complete the "Defenders of Justice" quest. If you decide to start cooperating with magicians, you need to complete the "Secret" task. In any case, the choice is not yet final and you can change it. But during the next assignment you will have to make a decision.

In secret

Now is the time to head to the Inner Earths. If you have not yet explored all the locations, point your feet straight north. There is the city of Radcliffe, in which we need to get in the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition. When you come to the gate, you will see a rift located there. To get into the city, you have to close it. Not very strong demons come out from there, so problems will not arise. When the rift is closed, the gate will open and you can get behind the walls.

Inside the city, you need to look around after examining the merchants. I have not found anything remarkable that would significantly enhance my characters. When you've found everything you need, head straight to the tavern. When you get inside this building, you should talk to the witch. A new destination will appear on the map, to which we will go.

When you get to the mark continuing the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition, Dorian will come out to meet you. With it, you can continue your journey if this magician likes it. Also, male characters can start a romantic line with him. And there is no escape from closing the rifts. Pay a lot of attention to this, as the demons that will crawl out of this rift are strong enough. Chat with the sorcerer, after which you will have to go home again.

Are you ready to make the final choice? If you have not turned off the designated path, you simply make a final decision that cannot be changed. You are faced with a choice. And we continue to go through the game along the path of the magicians, because, in our opinion, the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition for the magicians is much more interesting.

We need to go straight to Radcliffe again. Use fast travel in your camp so you don't waste a lot of time on the way. During this mission, be sure to join Dorian. Accordingly, the place of the magician will be occupied and the team must be selected based on this.

I am not going to tell you what you will run into once you go to Radcliffe. The plot is interesting enough, so be prepared for an unexpected twist. Once you finish watching all the cutscenes, you are left with only Dorian, ending up in prison. Once you can control your characters, you should start developing the mage, otherwise he will not be a good companion in the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition.

Dorian makes an excellent battle mage. Develop it in this direction, otherwise you will not achieve success. As you move through the dungeon, you will encounter several types of enemies. Almost no one is dangerous, but do not let them deal a lot of damage, otherwise you will not be able to heal for a long time. As often happens in similar games, the easiest way to complete this mission is for tank warriors. Rogues may have some problems, and it will be very difficult if you play as a magician or archer. In this, the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition is very unoriginal.

There are many points of movement in front of you, along which you will go. When you find the first fork, you will see three markers on the map. Each of them designates a character located there, which can be taken into the group. But then there are three marks! The third mark is the sorceress Fiona, whom we have already encountered. I advise you to immediately go to the other two marks, because four party members will kill all enemies much easier. When you can talk to Fiona, the next part of the quest will become available. You will have to move to a new location indicated on the map.

To heal your characters, you have health potions. But their stock is far from endless. Try to make the most of it if you find storage. It looks like a box, from which they stick out in all directions in different jars and flasks. This storage replenishes a full supply of health potions, so try to use the maximum of them in front of the crate. Well, are you ready to move on the new marks on the map? If you want to explore the entire location, I can immediately disappoint you. I did not find anything interesting there that would significantly enhance my character. Therefore, you can simply move along the marks until you have visited all of them. However, keep in mind that you will have to move through several levels. I advise you to carefully study the location, otherwise you will get confused and lost, which will be clearly superfluous for the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition.

If you find a closed door that cannot be opened, then you are on the right track. In order to get for it, you will have to look for red lyrium in the vicinity. To open this door, you must find five shards. You can see on the map where they are lying around. When you have each of them, be sure to refill your healing potions, because you will have to face a new enemy in this location. Alexius is a fairly strong opponent, but the next boss will fall in front of your pressure and the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition will continue.

This boss is a sorcerer who constantly attacks you with magic. In addition, he moves with the help of teleports throughout the site, protecting himself with a shield that absorbs damage. The battle looks very monotonous, but it shouldn't be difficult. The main thing is that your tank constantly provokes the boss to beat itself. Since the boss likes to switch targets, keep an eye on who he is hitting all the time. All your other allies should focus their maximum attention on this fight. Do not be afraid to deal a lot of damage, because in the future you will not need any spells with a long cooldown. As soon as you remove about 50% of the boss's health, he will disappear from view, but you will have to close a new gap. You already know how to do this, so just do the usual work. If the gap is blocked, the boss will reappear in this room. When you remove three-quarters of his health, the boss will disappear again. This time the demons from the rips will be slightly stronger, but you can still deal with them. After that, be sure to watch the video clip, sympathize with one of the characters and continue the passage of Dragon Age Inquisition.

The Defenders of Justice in Dragon Age: Inquisition is nothing more than the first fork in the quest since Val Royeaux. You have to choose. If you choose the Templars and this task, then the mages will come under the control of the Venatori.

How to get the?

To reach negotiations between the templars and magicians in Val Royeaux, and also have influence of at least 15 units, and the hero's level is at least 4. We accept the task from the informant Cullen and try to draw the attention of the order to the Inquisition.

Passing

Before moving to a location, change the damage from magicians to anything other than electric. In addition, take the thief to the group to pick locks. On the way to Ternifal you will be intercepted by Esmeral Abernache with the message that some Orlesian houses are already supporting you.

Upon arrival, we communicate with others, collect items and only then go to Barris. You either accept the competition offer and get an entrance to the courtyard with a little loot, or you refuse and thereby save Abernash in the future.

Flags - Here you need to place them as needed using the levers. Keep in mind that location points depend on the first flag, as well as the answer about the motivation you were guided by.

Whether you passed the test or not, Denam will come to the meeting instead of Lord Seeker Lucius. Whatever options you choose, the infected templars end up attacking. Then we move through the casemates and go out into the courtyard, simultaneously killing the desecrated enemies. Everything here is worth inspecting, as there is a chance to find a decent amount of utility.

Once on the upper level, do not rush to go to meet Lucius - find Denam's chambers and search them to get a letter incriminating the knight of his crimes, and only after that we go further, watch the appeal of the false Lucius and enter the battle.

 • Magical vision

In fact, the place of the lord was taken by a demon that captures your mind and puts you in the shadow. Here you will have to communicate with the Demon of Envy, who wants to take the place of the Herald. We pass the level and when we stumble upon the statues with fire we go to the left - here the player is waiting for a locked door, inside which you need to pick up the dogma of envy. Now we go to the room opposite and talk to Cole, after which we go out into the corridor and learn how to pass through the fiery barriers.

 • Dungeon

We follow Cole further into the dungeon, talk to him again and go further, until we see a torch with a curtain fire - we take it, we return to pick up the key in the dark room. Now we light the braziers in the chambers and when the latter is activated, a secret passage will open. We open the door on the right with the key and there we again light the brazier. Then we return, we light the last of them, we take away one more dogma and leave through the chamber of Josephine.

 • Liberation

Now you went into the forest and the places are already more familiar - you should ignore everything and everyone, avoid the peak and just move to the place where you were captured - as soon as you get to the door, you will be freed from the spell, and the demon will hide behind a magical barrier. Now you just have to go after the veteran templars, since it is impossible to break the barrier in the usual way.

 • Hold the hall

Here you will need to find veterans in two small locations and at the same time do not forget about retention. Do not let the scale drop to 75% and return to the hall more often to kill enemies and prevent Barris from being injured, otherwise the latter will die and will not be able to recruit him. Explore everything slowly and methodically, for several times, do not forget about the clear path for veterans and search the rooms of the Lord Commander.

 • Removing the barrier

Once everything is done and assembled, talk to Barris, after which the bridges will be raised and all doors in the hall branches closed. Now you just have to wait for the barrier to be removed, and while this happens the player will be occupied by the red templars. As soon as the removal is over, all enemies will die at once, so it makes sense to pull them slightly by the nose and use this to your advantage.

 • Fighting the demon

Having collected supplies, we move on and enter into a full-fledged battle with the demon of Envy, which cannot be removed from the battle with skills, attacks with spirit magic and can hit several people at once. After removing a third of the health, Cole will appear on the battlefield, and after another third, the demon will change his conviction and launch a wave of templars, closing with a barrier, which then disappears. We finish it off and get a reward in the form of essences.

 • Final stage

Going out into the hall, you decide the fate of Abernashi (if he survived) and negotiate with Barris (or Fletcher, if the first one did die). You have the option to either voluntarily bring the Templars to serve or disband the order and call everyone into the ranks of the Inquisition.

Also, upon returning to the Vault, a conversation will be raised about a solution in which you can choose the option about lyrium in order to open a new operation at the command headquarters and strengthen the templars.

After that, Cole will appear in front of you, who talks about his motives and desire to join. The player can accept Cole, or exile and forget about him.

Quest reward

 • 3k experience in general for the task itself;
 • 1850 influence (assuming Barris is alive and an agent of the Inquisition);
 • +3 to the strength of the Inquisition;
 • Templars in the service of the Inquisition.

This task will exclude the possibility of further cooperation with magicians. However, it is possible to attend an appointment at Redcliffe Village.

Requires 15 Influence points to complete. The recommended level is 4 to 7.

First, you should sell all unnecessary from the inventory and prepare the equipment.

On advice, Cullen announces that the Seeker Lord is in citadel Terinfal... Leliana and Josephine offered to enlist the support of the noble nobility of Orlais, thereby forcing the lord to negotiate.

Upon arrival at the citadel, we will be met by a representative of the aristocrats Esmeral Abernache and Cullen's informant - Ser Barris.

Before going to a meeting, you will be asked to perform a ritual. The banners of the Church, Ferelden, and the Templars must be raised in order of importance. There can be no mistake, but your companions will appreciate the choice, in any case you can refuse.

For his place, Lord Lucius sent a captain of the Order, who mentioning the name Older, will attack your squad.

In one of the rooms under the castle, you can find the Amulet of Power for Kassandra.

Breaking through the ranks of the possessed Red Templars finally we find Lucius Corin, or rather what is hidden under him ... he grabs the Inquisitor and sends him to the world of the Shadow.

Demon of envy in the thirst to become a Messenger, illusions and traps question our past, present and future.

But a friendly spirit comes to the rescue Cole , he gives advice and moral support.

In the course of the passage, you can complete a side task Demonic dogmaby finding the three secrets of Inspiration. Secrets give a nice boost to basic stats.

Use a torch to light Curtain fire in four more points on the location. Then you will find yourself in the reflection of the courtyard of Terinfal. Try not to stop or the distortion will knock you off your feet. The demon tries to take over your body, but fails and the Shadow dissipates. Envy, showing its true appearance, hides behind the barrier of the veil.

Ser Barris proposes to overcome the obstacle by applying the abilities of the Templars, but for this he needs the help of veterans and a supply of pure lyrium... You can find them in the chambers on both sides of the hall. As soon as you enter one of the doors, the countdown will start. It will be necessary to return before the forces of those protecting the Main Hall are exhausted. Returning each time, you will have to fight off the attack. Plus, with each return, you'll have less time to spend in peace.

You can go first to the upper chambers, help two veterans and find lyrium. Return to the hall above, lower the stairs and help the templars. Then, having replenished the supply of potions, enter the officers' quarters. For each found veteran, a little is added to the status bar of the hall.

On both sides there is a secret room, which can be accessed by breaking through the wall with a warrior.

As soon as the templars begin to influence the barrier, the possessed will begin to appear through it.

Barris will survive if the state of the hall does not fall below half.

Before the upcoming battle, do not forget to resupply at the brazier on the left.

The boss's behavior is similar to the horror demon. In parallel, he deals ranged damage with spirit magic. When his health drops to a certain level, he will call for help and take the form of a dark figure (depending on the class of the protagonist).

Cole will also fight, dealing damage with daggers.

Having won and taking dagger Insolence with the rest of the trophies, we make an important choice. Do you want to restore the Order and make a full-fledged alliance with it, or you want to dissolve the Order, accepting the remaining templars under the new leadership of the Inquisition.

Depending on the decision made, your advisors will perceive it differently.

Suddenly there will appear on the command table Cole , he followed you from the citadel itself and asks to be accepted into your command ...

Next task:
