In recent years, some scientists have claimed global warming and the impending global catastrophe, other scientists have denied them and shouted that cooling and a new ice age are actually beginning. Around these questions lately, a lot of turbulence has been specially “wound”, and it is so difficult to see the real picture. Especially a person who does not have the opportunity, and the desire to spend a lot of time and energy to understand what is happening.
The real situation with this issue, which is actually extremely important for hundreds of millions of people around the world, is as follows.
The media talks a lot about global warming. But it seems to be going very slowly and in the next 100 years the temperature can rise, either by 10, or by 8, or by 3 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, given the opposing assertions of other scientists, it is not entirely clear: the temperature either rises, or, on the contrary, decreases, but it seems that it will not have time to affect the lives of our generation and the generation of our children. Now it seems that nothing needs to be done, and in 50–60 years we will see. In general, the information on warming for those who are living seems to be not very relevant.
They also talk a lot about some supposedly happening ozone layer destruction, the greenhouse effect due to the increase in carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, and for some reason these emissions under the Kyoto Protocol need to be reduced.
On the other hand, large groups of other scientists, based on similar scientific studies, convince everyone that there is no destruction of the ozone layer. They say that even if there was a destruction, then nothing terrible would have happened to nature, because carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere earlier, several thousand years ago (sometimes they say about several hundred thousand or millions of years), has already risen to much higher levels than those to which this content may rise in the coming decades, and nothing — life on Earth perished, and that in general there is not global warming, but a global cooling (ice age), and in 100 years the temperature will drop by the same 10 or 8 degrees Celsius.
In general, in matters of climate change there is a complete informational stuffing, which is not easy to understand. Most of this delirium about cooling / warming, in my opinion, is specifically launched into circulation, so that a normal person would have a hard time understanding what it really is.
There is such a very effective method hiding information about the real situation: the launch into circulation of a huge amount of false, but plausible, information, checking the array of which and identifying its reliable parts will require too much time and effort.
This technique is used when it is initially impossible to hide, withdraw, destroy “dangerous” information.
For analysis in such a situation, the following technique is used: it is necessary to see what information appeared first, when it appeared, what exactly was said in it, and after what time, with what dynamics the counter information began to be thrown. This preliminary analysis will allow you to see the general contours of the real scheme of the situation. Next, you need to focus on the analysis of the arguments and counter-arguments of the parties.
So, in the topic that interests us, the situation was as follows: first, in the early nineties, works appeared that not everything was fine with the warm Gulf Stream.
It should be understood that the warm current of the Gulf Stream is a giant stove that warms throughout the year most of the territory of the United States and all of Western and Northern Europe. The volume of the Gulf Stream flow is 50 million m3 per second, which is 20 times greater than the flow of all the rivers in the world combined. Its thermal capacity is about 1.3 - 1.5 petawatts, which is equal to one million nuclear power plants.
The Gulf Stream ensures that the average annual temperature of 9-10 degrees Celsius in Europe and the USA is higher than in areas of similar latitude, for example, in the European part of Russia, in Siberia, in the Far East.
As a result, there is a very mild climate in Europe and in a large part of the USA, which is exceptionally favorable for agriculture. The average annual grain yield in Germany, France and the UK (on nonchernozem soils) is 70 centners per hectare, in Sweden - 60, in Ireland - 85, and in Ukraine (on chernozem) - only about 24, in Russia (on nonchernozem) - around 17 centners. In Germany, in France, in Belgium, etc. there are no droughts and frost destroying crops, and in Russia and Ukraine they are regular.
So the Gulf Stream for the USA and Western Europe is a gift from above, thanks to which, heat, equivalent to the work of a million nuclear power plants, constantly, day after day, heats the USA and Western Europe, sharply increasing the efficiency of their economies in general and agriculture, in particular .
So, in the 90s, scientists began to appear messages that the situation with the Gulf Stream is not in order. Its power began to weaken, and in a number of areas it began to disappear, especially closer to the north.
All the details for a long time to talk about the main thing.
As a result of additional research, it turned out that the changes with the Gulf Stream are due to the fact that there is an intensive melting of ice in Greenland and in the whole in the Arctic. The enormous amount of fresh water being formed (ice is fresh) intensifies the cold Labrador Current crossing the Gulf Stream, the density of which becomes less and less, and it begins to drive the more salty and dense Gulf Stream to the depth. Desalination of the Arctic Ocean due to the melting of the Arctic ice also begins to “drive” the much more salty Gulf Stream deep into. In addition, some scientists claim that due to the melting of a multi-kilometer ice cap, its weight decreases and the geometry of the Earth's crust changes in the Greenland region (the crust rises in this place), and this also prevents the Gulf Stream from flowing, as usual, to the north and Northern Europe.
In general, there are a significant number of reasons why the Gulf Stream changes its trajectory.
Not all the reasons for what is happening are equally convincing. One can talk and argue about the reasons, in fact, the main thing is not at all, and it is not so important which of the scientists agrees or disagrees with what.
The most important thing is that there is a real fact: the Gulf Stream changes direction and weakens much earlier than before.
After a very short time (usually talking about 3-5 years), the Gulf Stream will begin, without reaching the shores of Spain, “turn” to Africa and completely cease to “finish off” to France, Britain, Norway, Iceland and Fr. Svalbard.
Thus, you do not have to wait 100 years for everyone to feel some kind of climate change. The nine additional degrees donated to Europe, as well as to the Eastern and Central parts of the United States, will disappear very soon.
If such changes had affected other regions (Africa, South America, etc.), the West would simply spit on it and forget. But here the situation is different.
It is the most economically developed regions of the world that will suffer greatly. The climate will change dramatically in a large part of the United States (large areas of the United States will become deserted), a sharp cooling will come (something like a Siberian climate) in the UK, Norway, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, etc. A sharp deterioration in climate will occur in France, the climate of Spain will become very humid, etc.
Scientists write about the huge number of disasters that threaten these regions, which will dramatically change the conditions of existence of all living there.
After the appearance of information about problems with the Gulf Stream, for several years there was no external reaction to this topic. Obviously, at the first moment the “brain” did not attach any importance to it. Then, suspecting something was wrong, I decided to check it scientifically, to make sure that it is real, because The topic is too serious and the cost of a mistake is high.
Only then, somewhere from 1999-2000, a strong stream of scientific counter-information began to appear in the media.
All in the end, it became reduced to a dispute: global cooling or global warming is now going, by how much - the temperature will change by 5 or 10 degrees Celsius and after how much this will happen - in 100 or 200 years.
In general, everything was translated into disputes about a fairly abstract distant future, irrelevant for the next 100-200 years.
The result is obvious: against this background, everyone quite calmly perceives the information that the ice caps of both poles and Greenland are melting at a very high speed.
Not only the melting of the ice of the North Pole and Greenland is dangerous.
The melting of the ice of Antarctica also poses a serious threat. The bridge diminished in size, linking the Ross Ice Shelf with the main part of Antarctica. Prior to that, the Larsen A and Larsen B glaciers, which protected the Ross glacier from warmer waters, melted in a very short time. And it is very dangerous.
The fact is that the Ross Ice Shelf is the main supplier of icebergs. In the near future (one, maybe two - three years), he will be ready to completely detach himself from Antarctica.
The area of this glacier is 487,000 km2 - approximately equal to the area of France, the thickness of the body of the glacier is from 200 meters to 700 meters, the dimensions are 800 by 850 kilometers. This glacier is afloat and is connected with the ice of land by a jumper that does not allow it to come off. If this “baby” comes off, swims away to warmer latitudes and melts there, it will significantly affect the freshness of water in many areas of the world’s ocean.
Such desalination will have a very serious impact on some currents and, again, will contribute to various natural disasters and climate change. In addition, the separation of the Ross glacier will significantly accelerate the melting of the rest of the Antarctic ice cap. For those who understand that it is from various aspects of global warming that we may not really be threatened in the distant future, but already now, this is very threatening information.
Such future global changes, naturally, could not help but worry the “brain”, especially in those regions that provide its financial power.
I would like to emphasize that information about impending very serious climate changes in the places of residence of the “golden billion” - Western and Central Europe and the United States has a high degree of confidence.
It is not necessary to put this information in one row with the “information” that the climate may change from “gravitational bubbles”, from “giant protuberances on the Sun”, from “greenhouse effect”, from “destruction of the ozone layer”, from “caldera explosions supervolcano in the United States.

He gave huge savings on heating (heating) of dwellings, workplaces, childcare facilities and schools, industrial premises, etc. A huge amount of fuel (gas, oil, coal, electricity) was saved, a huge amount of building materials and heaters were saved during the construction of buildings and structures, a huge amount of funds was saved due to the absence of the need to build powerful heating plants and heating lines. Crop yields in the USA and Europe are only 5 percent climate dependent. In Russia, the yield varies from year to year by 50 percent due to the instability of the Russian climate.
In general, the Gulf Stream for Europe and the USA is a very serious monetary gift to their economies and their populations.
According to a very rough estimate, if the Gulf Stream stops heating Europe and the USA, then each resident of these regions will be treated with additional expenses of at least two to three thousand dollars per person each year (here both citizens and states expenditures in terms of recalculation per person). The population of these regions is a little less than a billion. So a couple of trillions each year will have to be thrown away to live in warm houses, work in warm offices, etc. In addition, the infrastructure of these regions is not ready for a change in temperature. Will have to adapt. Not for free. Putting batteries, warming houses, digging trenches and laying heating mains and much more.
And these are all real actions for which you have to pay with real money.
The restructuring of infrastructure will cost a tidy sum - we are talking about at least 10-15 trillion dollars that need to be really spent in a short time.
Add a catastrophe with agriculture here, if the grain yield drops from 70-80 centners to 15-20. The reduction of the vegetative period of plants due to more severe weather conditions will play a big role here.
This applies to all other crops, as well as livestock products.
As a result, 80-90 percent of the food will have to be purchased outside these regions. I could be wrong, but, in my opinion, now only 30-35 percent of food by European countries is purchased by import. Therefore, even huge amounts (trillions of dollars) will additionally annually “leak” from Europe and the United States.
The enumeration of very real and very negative for Europe and the USA consequences of the Gulf Stream change can be continued for a long time.

Of course, life in these regions will not stop and Europe and the United States will not die out, but the economy will be under a lot of pressure for a while (considerable, about 15-20 years) and, one can say, will be close to collapse. Investment activity will be very low, almost zero, competitiveness there will sharply decline, the standard of living of the population will drop significantly.

Over the past 35 years, warming in Russia has been sharper compared to global (1971–2005): from 1951–1970. the temperature rose by 1.52 ° C. Warming is masked by large natural variability of temperature: in some years, cooling is possible in some regions. However, when averaged over large time intervals (20 years or more), warming is manifested especially clearly. Over the same last 35 years, a decrease in precipitation in the warm season in Russia and an increase in annual runoff on many large rivers, as well as its intraseasonal redistribution, have been observed. The conditions of the ice cover in the marginal seas of the Arctic Ocean and in the mouths of the northern rivers changed. In winter, in many regions there are more days with thaw.
According to the 4th IPCC Report, the average temperature in the Arctic basin has increased twice as fast as the global temperature over the past several decades. The concentration of sea ice and its length (that is, the area occupied by ice in relation to the entire area under consideration and in absolute units - square kilometers) have been continuously determined since 1978 using satellite microwave measurements. From 1978 to 2003, the average annual length of ice in the Northern Hemisphere decreased by 7%. In summer, there was a more noticeable reduction in length (by 14% in September compared to 5% in March): the reason is that in 10 years the multi-year, thicker ice melted by 7–9%.
According to estimates of future climate changes in Russia, performed by the team of the Main Geophysical Observatory named after A.I. Voeikova, where calculations were widely used with the help of the Open Society AOECA (studies of climate change based on the use of complex physical and mathematical models, are also conducted at the Institute of Computational Mathematics and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences) in the 21st century in Russia, primarily in the Arctic regions, warming will be noticeably more than global. Average annual warming in the middle of the century can reach 2.6 ± 0.7 ° C compared with the end of the twentieth century (1980–1999).
The expected increase in temperature significantly depends on the season and region. All models, without exception, show the most significant warming in winter (3.4 ± 0.8 ° C), especially in Siberia and the latitudinal zone along the Arctic Circle. In the summer, on the contrary, in this latitudinal zone the warming will be the least (1.9 ± 0.7 ° C). The change in air temperature at the Earth’s surface in all regions of Russia in winter and summer is expected to be much greater than the variation of changes between individual models. This suggests that the calculations using the MOCAO models are reliable.
A comfortable living area can move to the north, heating costs will be reduced, ice conditions will improve and, accordingly, transportation of goods along the Arctic coast and on large rivers, development of the natural resources of the Arctic shelf, etc. will be simplified. At the same time, droughts in some regions will become more frequent and floods in others. Poking permafrost can cause serious damage to buildings and communications in the northern regions of Russia. Balance in biocenoses will be disturbed, their species composition will change. Global warming creates for Russia - taking into account its geographical location, economic potential, demographic problems and geopolitical interests - a new situation, and the country's leadership needs to realize the importance of the coming changes in terms of national interests. In the overwhelming majority of industrialized countries, climate change is considered as a priority problem that requires a comprehensive study and development of long-term programs. It is obvious that in the 21st century the anthropogenic impact on climate and measures aimed at reducing the negative effects of these changes will be the focus of attention of the world community. Ignoring global warming, justified by its lack of knowledge, is not the most prudent choice, and you may have to pay a lot for it.
Changes in the climate system have become an obvious fact, says the IPCC report, whose members met in Paris in early 2007, to give an expert opinion on the nature of the changes that occurred and are awaiting the Earth. The rapid melting of glaciers, the gradual disappearance of permafrost, rising sea levels - all these are the consequences of an increase in average annual temperature. Increasing the average temperature does not mean that climate change is occurring. Warming is only a consequence of the processes that provoke change. Studies have shown that rising sea levels, loss of significant ice cover in Antarctica, anomalous hurricanes and precipitation, frosts and thaws, and other global changes occurring on the planet are somehow related to climate instability.
Echoes climate change observed now. This is manifested in the form of an increase in the intensity of occurrence of dangerous weather phenomena, regardless of the location. New viral diseases and infections are often generated, which often are not amenable to quick treatment. Leaving so many displaced people to their fate is extremely dangerous, because all this, ultimately, will result in aggression and war for a piece of bread and a sip of water. It should be understood that the roots of this problem grow from the egoistic pattern of attitudes of the consumer system, which is fractally repeated from the individual to society as a whole. It is up to the people themselves to change, first of all, the thinking of the person, the thinking of the world community from the consumer vector to the spiritual-moral, creative vector. But then a month passes, another, the situation in the disaster zone does not stabilize, and people need to be fed, clothed and so on. You have to make your own room, that is, to live differently than the human ego is used to. The standard situation is when refugees cannot find and apply for jobs in a new place for months. Under these conditions, in the process of living together, mutual complaints arise, voicing discontent, ranging from domestic issues to the expression of common political complaints drawn from the media. After all, a similar attitude is created by the system artificially, programming people through the world media for all kinds of division, war, quarrels with each other for any reason (for business, for land, for food, etc.) instead of peaceful coexistence and mutual assistance in any disaster .
As a result of the accumulation of negative, “discomfort” associated with changes in living conditions and violation of the zones of “comfort” and personal space, patterns of egoism work and quarrels and scandals occur. Why? Because the whole system from micro to macro level works on the separation of people. In a society as a whole there is no mutual understanding and philanthropy. Second point of view most researchers adhere that explain global warming by anthropogenic accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere — carbon dioxide CO 2, methane CH 4, nitrous oxide N 2 O, ozone, freons, tropospheric ozone O 3, and some other gases and water vapor. The emissions of another greenhouse gas, methane, have dramatically increased. Methane before the beginning of the XVIII century. had concentrations close to 0.7 ppmv, but over the past 300 years it has been observed at first slow and then accelerating growth. Today, the growth rate of CO2 concentration is 1.5-1.8 ppmv / year, and the CH 4 concentration is 1.72 ppmv / year. The growth rate of the concentration of N 2 O - an average of 0.75 ppmv / year (for the period 1980-1990). Sharp global warming began in the last quarter of the 20th century, which in the boreal regions affected a decrease in the number of frosty winters. The average temperature of the surface air layer over the past 25 years has increased by 0.7 ° C. In the equatorial zone, it has not changed, but the closer to the poles, the more noticeable the warming. The temperature of the under-ice water in the area of the North Pole increased by almost 2 ° С, as a result of which the ice began to melt from below. Over the past hundred years, the global average temperature has increased by almost one degree Celsius. However, the bulk of this warming came in the period until the end of the 1930s. Then, from about 1940 to 1975, a decrease of about 0.2 ° C was observed. Since 1975, the temperature began to rise again (the maximum increase in 1998 and 2000). Global warming is manifested in the Arctic 2-3 times stronger than the rest of the planet. If current trends continue, after 20 years, due to the decrease in ice cover, the Hudson Bay may become unsuitable for polar bears. Projections of global climate change in the XXI century. show the following.
Air temperature. According to the ensemble of the IPCC forecast models (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), the average global warming will be 1.3 ° C by the middle of the XXI century. (2041-2060) and 2.1 ° C at its end (2080-2099). On the territory of Russia in different seasons, the temperature will change in a fairly wide range. Against the background of general global warming, the greatest increase in surface temperature in the XXI century. will be in winter in Siberia and the Far East. Precipitation. On many Russian watersheds, precipitation will increase not only in winter, but also in summer. The depth of seasonal thawing will increase everywhere, by an average of 15-25%, and up to 50% on the Arctic coast and in certain regions of Western Siberia. Global climate change on Earth will have a significant impact on key sectors of the economy.
Agriculture. Climate change will reduce potential yields in most tropical and subtropical regions. With the growth of the average global temperature by more than a few degrees, the yield in middle latitudes will decrease (which cannot be compensated by changes in high latitudes). Water supply.
